CATCH THE READING BUG!

The Bucyrus Public Library invites all BOOKWORMS in grades K-6 to FLY into the library this summer for some great ANT-ics!

BUZZ into the library to check out books and earn great coupon prizes! All children who have finished kindergarten through the 6th grade are eligible to participate in the program. 6th graders may also decide if they would rather participate in the K-6or the Young Adult program.

Sign-up for the summer program begins June 2nd! Stop in at the library anytime during regular hours to pick up a sign-up packet. Once your child receives this packet, he or she is ready to begin!

Participants in the program will be signing a reading contract, deciding how many books to read during the course of the summer program. Forms will be available in the packet to keep track of books read.

Once the contracted goal is reached, participants will turn in contracts for prizes drawings to be held July 31st at 11:00 a.m. at the library. Grand prizes to be given away are 4 bicycles (two 24-inch bikes and two 20-inch bikes), as well as autographed books from Ohio authors!

Coupon prizes will be awarded for every 5 books read! For older or advanced readers who are reading chapter books, we ask that you count every 50 pages as a book. For example, a 150-page book would equal 3 books toward the contract goal.

Prize drawings will also be held for a variety of items at the performer programs on June 19th, June 26th, and July 3rd.

Great performer programs are also scheduled for the summer! Check out our separate 2008 Performer Schedule for days and times!

Are you the parent of a preschooler, too? Then check out our "Be a Reader" read-to-me summer reading program for preschoolers! Young readers can earn trips to the "Treasure Chest" and once the final book goal is reached, they will receive a FREE book and food coupon prize! Sign-up for this program begins June 2nd as well!
